Marx|Okubo welcomes Angela Stewart, P.E., Associate, Gustavo G. Chaves, LEED AP, CPMP, Associate, to its Atlanta office, Curtis B. Wayne, AIA, NCARB, Senior Associate, to its Northeast office, Michael R. Hirsch, Senior Associate, to its San Francisco office, and Michael Spassoff, Associate, to its Orange County office.


Angie Stewart is responsible for preconstruction project reviews, construction loan monitoring, owner's representation, construction project management, and property condition assessments. In addition to delivering core services, Ms. Stewart also serves as part of the structural engineering team in the Atlanta office. Ms. Stewart has structural engineering and project management experience in the following building types: industrial, office, schools, mixed-use, retail, multifamily, renovations, and retrofits. She also has a strong background in client management and sales. Angie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from North Carolina State University and is a registered professional engineer in Alabama.

Gustavo Chaves has almost ten years of experience as a mechanical engineer and has been involved with the industry since 2000, including surveys, evaluations, and design of building systems for more than 1,600 facilities throughout the world. Prior to joining Marx|Okubo, Mr. Chaves performed hundreds of energy and ventilation LEED submittals reviews for a certification body. In addition, served as commissioning agent and provided mechanical design of HVAC systems for residential, commercial, healthcare, bio safety laboratories, industrial, and mission critical facilities. Gustavo holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro, is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) with the AEE, LEED Accredited Professional with the EB+OM specialty, LEED Certified Project Review by USGBC, Commissioning Process Management Professional (CPMP) by ASHRAE, and a member of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Association of Energy Engineers, and US Green Building Council.

Curtis Wayne is involved in current and ongoing preconstruction project review and property condition assessment assignments, as well as construction forensic consulting. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Wayne was Principal Designer, Senior Project Manager, and Construction Administrator in architectural firms in the Midwest and Northeast; was Vice President in a third-party due diligence practice in the Northeast; and was employed in a variety of facility management positions as in-house Architect with several financial industry firms. Curtis holds a Master's Degree in Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design, Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from the Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City, is a licensed architect in New York, Connecticut, Illinois, Utah, and North Carolina, and a member of the American Institute of Architects.

Michael Hirsch brings over 30 years of expertise in the design, construction, investigation, and analysis of roofing and waterproofing systems on commercial, institutional, and residential buildings. He has collaborated with architects, owners, builders, and field mechanics to develop effective solutions on challenging projects, most recently including Promontory Point Apartments for The Irvine Company and the Apple Campus 2 development in Cupertino, California. Mr. Hirsch held management positions directing technical staff specializing in roofing and waterproofing technology including the development of laboratory and field procedures for testing, inspection, consultation, and reporting prior to joining Marx|Okubo. Michael holds a Bachelor's Degree from San Francisco University, has taken additional coursework in roofing, waterproofing, and building envelope technology and various industry programs, and is a member of ASTM and RCI.

Michael Spassoff began his engineering career in 1997, designing HVAC systems for several consulting engineering firms before focusing in 2005 on property condition assessments, LEED Commissioning, and project management. Prior to joining Marx|Okubo, Mr. Spassoff performed several hundred facility condition assessments for commercial buildings, hospitals, and hotels throughout the western United States. At his previous company, Mr. Spassoff performed LEED Fundamental Commissioning on mechanical and plumbing systems for the new 1.5-million-square-foot Tom Bradley International Terminal West Expansion at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) and provided commissioning for LAX Terminals 2, 4, and the existing Tom Bradley International Terminal. Michael holds a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach.
