Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP)
Marx Okubo is happy to count itself as one of the more than 6,500 companies in the United States that operates as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) firm. With an ESOP, the ownership of the company is held in Trust for the benefit of the employees of the company. This means our employees don’t pay out of their wages or income but gain “ownership” as a result of their work. Our ESOP is an important element in rewarding our employees years of service with the firm. Employees receive benefits in retirement from the payout of share benefits earned during their tenure with Marx Okubo. It is our way of providing a reward to our employees who have helped to grow the business and to preserve the legacy and culture of Marx Okubo. And we know that employees who participate in, and feel the responsibility of, the ownership of their firm are generally more inspired, productive, innovative and committed—all of which contribute to the ongoing success of a business.
In the community
Through Marx Okubo's supportive volunteer program, The MO Effect, our employees can choose to take time off to volunteer in activities that enhance and serve the communities in which we live and work. The intention of this program is to create community engagement opportunities for our employees that are purposeful and help those in need. Our volunteers are always amazed at the total impact they can achieve together to help so many people.
