On September 19, 2015, Families Forward held its annual "The Art of Giving" gala to celebrate 31 years of service to local families in crisis. The event was held at The Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach, and at the event, Families Forward's former families in need shared their personal story about how the organization helped them through homelessness while trying to support two young children. The parents described the support and services that were provided to them by Families Forward that helped them find permanent housing and start the process of building a better future for them and their children.
This wonderful event was attended by Parrish Boren, Gary Cohn, Sandy Blair, Peter Chang, and Tianna Huffman of Marx|Okubo to accept the Partner in Hope Award. Gary Cohn, Executive Vice President, was presented the award for helping guide Families Forward through the purchase, design, and construction of affordable housing properties and the expansion of Families Forward's Program Center. Gary Cohn remarked, "When we see the challenges facing families in Orange County, it is clear that the solution requires a major joint effort by industry, government, and nonprofit all working together to change the housing landscape. We'd love to see more organizations join us in creating an environment where a family can find a place they can afford to live and raise their children."
This charitable evening raised more than $400,000 to support local families and help them achieve self-sufficiency through housing, food, counseling, career coaching, education, and other support services. To learn more, visit www.families-forward.org.
