Marx Okubo was engaged to perform a facility condition assessment for this four-story, concrete-framed structure of approximately 196,800 square feet. The building contains priceless historical artifacts relevant to the archival and record management for all State of Georgia agencies—including the original Georgia constitution written on buckskin. The building contains a lobby, document vaults, classrooms, exhibit spaces, laboratories, offices, as well as guest facilities. Our assessment identified deficiencies with and recommendations for the site stormwater systems. Additional recommendations included repairs and replacement of roofs, building facade, and specialized vault air conditioning systems.Marx Okubo was also retained to perform a detailed evaluation of temperature and humidities in the document storage vaults and conservation spaces. Our role was to determine if the HVAC systems maintained temperatures and humidities within the desired ranges for museums and precious document storage.
