White Plains, NY – August 5, 2026 — Marx Okubo is happy to share leadership updates, this time in its Northeast region.

Samuel Kemp, PE, has been promoted to Vice President in the Northeast region. In this role, he manages and directs day-to-day regional operations, as well as has responsibility for project scheduling and peer reviews, which creates the foundation of quality control in the region.

Sam is focused on developing business and is continually engaged in proposal writing and client negotiations.

As an active participant in leadership development of the firm, Sam mentors staff at all levels, and he is also dynamic in the industry as a subject matter expert in mechanical engineering, contributing his expertise to many investigation, repair and energy efficiency projects.

He brings over 15 years of engineering, project management, and construction experience, with a background spanning mechanical system design, building evaluations, and infrastructure projects across a wide range of facility types—experience that continues to influence his technical expertise, leadership, and client service today.

Rui DeSousa, AIA, has been promoted to Assistant Vice President of the Northeast region and is focusing on construction-related services. He is ensuring compliance, quality control, process adoption, technology integration, and collaboration across the New York and Mid-Atlantic offices. Rui has worked to help clients at all stages of their real estate investment strategies, beginning with evaluations of existing buildings, review of project drawings and specifications during pre-construction, construction loan monitoring, and owner’s representation throughout the construction phase. His responsibilities include mentoring staff, scheduling, and peer-reviewing team members' work.

Drawing on many years of experience in commercial architecture, project management, and construction risk consulting, Rui brings a broad perspective shaped by advising owners, investors, lenders, and other stakeholders through complex projects across the Northeast. That experience continues to strengthen his leadership, support project teams, and deliver thoughtful guidance to clients.
