Marx|Okubo Plays Key Role in Two San Diego Buildings

Sep 30, 2013

Marx|Okubo recently played a key role in two significant buildings in San Diego– the LPL Financial Building, and the DiamondView Tower.

At the LPL Financial building, which is the nation's largest "net zero" energy efficient building, Marx|Okubo performed a Pre Project Review as well as monthly construction monitoring. The 13-story, 415,000 square-foot building achieves carbon neutrality through a combination of high-performance building design, an under-floor air system, advanced curtain wall materials, and on-site fuel cells that generate more electricity than the building uses. This system will contribute to California’s ambitious goal of deriving a third of its electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

With a sales price of $121 million, the DiamondView Tower was the largest single-asset office transaction in San Diego in 2012. Marx|Okubo performed a Property Condition Assessment for the buyer of the 15-story, 305,255 square-foot tower. It is one of the most uniquely positioned Class A office properties on the West Coast due to its location adjacent to Petco Park. The tower includes such amenities as a penthouse hospitality skybox on the 15th floor, and an athletic club with an outdoor pool and deck overlooking the ballpark and the San Diego Bay.
