Changes to the California Building Code

The California Building Standards Commission recently published the 2013 Edition of the California Building Code (CBC). This code replaced the existing 2010 CBC standard and went into effect on January 1, 2014. Several changes have been made to the code that will affect Marx|Okubo's core services.
As we work to represent property owners and lenders, Marx|Okubo refers regularly to applicable building codes. We review code compliance as part of project plan reviews, property condition assessments, and owner representation projects. It is important for us to keep up with significant code changes so that we can better advise our clients.
The purpose of this technical advisory is to identify and discuss select changes from the 2010 Edition of the CBC to the 2013 Edition. Our review of these changes is part of our commitment to maintaining and improving our knowledge of the complexities of the California Building Code.
